Pumpkin Patch

We followed in Jason, Anna and  JessicaLynn and Jason's footsteps and went to Roloff Farm with our friend Aly today.  Wow, it was jam packed with people.  We ended up seeing Matt on his tractor thing driving around and we saw Amy and scored a photo op with her (see below).  We had a fun, brief visit.  We decided the line was way too long to take the tour and the pumpkin patch was picked through so we decided we could buy our pumpkins at QFC.  We walked around a bit, took some pictures and called it a day.  Here are the pictures.

First day of work

Cooper and I started working this week.  We are the best mother/son espresso shot slinger this side of the Mississippi.  I'm a barista at Wendy's coffee stand in the Kaiser building in Vancouver.  We work a couple of hours during the day so Wendy can run errands and take it easy; she just had knee surgery.  Cooper's working it so we get pretty good tips!

Grabber and other fun times

Watch out world, Cooper is starting to grab at things.  It happened this week in Seattle and it was awesome because we were all in the car when we saw Cooper reach out and grab his toy in the car seat.  He was totally playing with his toy, it crinkles and we heard it.  He then progressed to grabbing a toy and bringing it toward his mouth.  He likes to stare at his fists and he's doing a good job of sucking on his thumb and fingers.  At a restaurant he grabbed at a spoon too.  He laughs a lot and smiles at himself in the mirror.  If he's crying and sees himself in the mirror he will stop crying and smile.

The other thing he started doing which is not so fun is throw little temper fits.  He's in the habit of continuing to scream even after he's brought to the food source for a good 15 seconds.  We decided this is his way of telling us just how unhappy he is at how long it took to get him his food.

And there are more changes. He likes to be bounced either while we are standing or sitting.  We have a fitness ball and he loves bouncing on that with us.  He likes facing out in the sling and Bjorn, preferring to look out than toward us.  Oh, and he is not enjoying his car seat as much.  He squawks when he's in his seat, he has never done that before.  When shopping he would rather be in a sling than in the car seat.  He loves watching Monday night football with Aunt Connie who tells him all about what is happening.  He is looking around his world all the time, following the dogs with his eyes, tracking his toys that we move across his field of vision, searching for his mommies when others are holding him.

It is cool to see him change and grow even though it's happening so fast.  His hair is starting to fall out too, on the side of his head, yet he still has sideburns.

Two outings

This week we went on two outings with Cooper.  Holly Van Fleet and angela stein took us to the Body Worlds 3 exhibit at OMSI on Thursday evening.  What an amazing exhibit.  I thought it may creep me out but I didn't have that feeling at all.  I thought it was fascinating.  Cooper slept on Sharon in the Bjorn through the entire exhibit.  We went to Montague for some mac and cheese afterwards.  Cooper woke up screaming to eat when we made it to the car; I fed him and he snoozed through dinner.

Friday night we went to see "Said the Spider to the Spy" at the Sandy Actor's Theater with Susan and Kerry.  Our friend Jim is the director of the play.  Cooper was a super star there too.  He squawked to eat right as the play started, I fed him and he slept the rest of the play, about two hours!  It was a great play, very funny.

This week Cooper, the dogs and I are heading up to Seattle Tuesday-Thursday to join Sharon on her business trip.  We're staying in a hotel this time and I hope to visit my friend justined that moved up there two years ago.
