One Month Old

Cooper is one month old, well 5 weeks now.  I can't believe it.  He is still the best baby, he endured an IKEA shopping experience yesterday and was a super star.  We bought him some cute things for his bedroom and grandma and grandpa bought him a snake hamper.  Here are some one month old pictures.

Riley has taken to being the watchful eye for Cooper.  I was in the bathroom while Cooper was hanging out on the bed and Riley decided that it was her job to keep watch over Cooper.

A day in the life of nurturing Cooper

Our visitors left today, Sharon's sister and niece were here since Thursday.  We have a break now until August 20th when Sharon's mom and husband come up to visit for a week or so.  It will be nice to have some alone time. just the three of us but the extra hands will be missed.  Mostly I sit in a chair and feed Cooper all day.  I'm still recovering from surgery so I'm not supposed to lift more than 10 pounds (I guess besides my baby who was 10 at birth).  I can't wear in a sling right now because it hurts my stitches.  However, we did go to the outlet mall in Woodburn this weekend and he did really well.  We brought the stroller but he ended up nursing and then sleeping in the sling and we had Sharon wear it.  It was perfect, he slept a long time in that.  Yesterday we tried to have a small outing and he was having none of it so we all came home.

Cooper is a cluster feeder, he likes to eat for a few hours off and on before settling into a 2 hour nap.  He also likes to nap while eating.  At night, he sleeps for about 3-4 hours, wakes up at 3-3:30a.m. every morning to eat and will then sleep until 6:30 or 7am.  Some mornings he'll sleep again after eating at 7am, other mornings he's up for a few hours.
I read a lot during the day and nap when he naps sometimes.  He's really a good baby, not fussy or temperamental at all.

Dreaming Again

I've been having labor dreams again.  I don't remember much when I wake up but I know that they are about labor.  Sharon always gets in trouble in them too-those are the parts I remember.  The one I had Saturday night, Sharon wouldn't answer any of her phones.  I knew from a friend that she was with one of our other friends and she was purposefully not answering her phones.  I guess that's my anxiety coming out.  I think that dream wiped me out because I had no energy yesterday.

I can't wait to see this little guy, hopefully this is the week - WEEK 40!!!

My last day

Today is my last day of work until October.  I am excited to relax, rest and veg the next few days before my parents arrive on the 16th.  Sharon's excited for lattes every morning!  I will probably do more nesting at home until Cooper gets here, at least I'll be in the comfort of my home.

The update on Cooper, I don't have one.  I'm getting contractions everyday, nothing significant or regular.  Many people say he looks like he dropped, I can't tell.  I am waddling more so maybe that's a good sign.

Weekend of Projects

This weekend was full of nesting projects.  Sharon was up at the crack of dawn Saturday and Sunday working on multiple projects.  I slept in both days and it felt so wonderful.  We are in a painting mode right now, trying to get things painted before Cooper is here.  Sharon stripped, sanded and primed the front door and will paint it this week.  She also primed one of the exterior windows to paint this week.  She put up a privacy screen in our backyard for our neighbor and our piece of mind.  With our new deck we can really see directly into our neighbor's study and we don't like it and I'm sure she doesnt' either.  Sharon put up two posts and a lattice that we can grow clematis or something on to block her view.  We painted it green to go with the evergreens back there.  Sharon also painted the bathroom and new blue color, it's really nice and we're going to do all white trim which will look great!

As for my projects, I finished washing all of Cooper's clothes and put them away.  I don't think I've ever done that much laundry in one weekend.  I then decided that he really does need a closet.  That added another project to Sharon's list, make the bedroom armiore a closet for my clothes, that's on her list for this week too.  I put all our contacts in an address book and made granola bars.

38 Weeks

Hard to believe that this is my 38th week of this pregnancy.  I am ready to have this baby!  He doesn't seem ready to come out though.  We have a doctor's appointment today, maybe I'll learn something promising about his progress into the birth canal?!  It's been incredibly hot this week so I am swelled up to the max, my feet are massive and as Sharon loves to show people, you can push on my foot and leave an indentation!

Baby Shower

Our baby shower was Saturday, June 30th.  It was awesome.  Susan did a great job hosting and Holly and Angie were gracious to host at their house and make burgers.  The weather was wonderful too.  Here are some pictures of the day.

WHAT A SURPRISE!

My surprise was my mom's visit from Florida to be here for the baby shower!!!!!  Wow, little sneakers; I had no idea that this was planned.  Apparently everyone knew the secret to include my friends and no one said anything.  I was speechless when I saw her with Sharon waiting for me with cameras in hand outside my work.

It was great to have her here - I had remarked about a week before that I wished my mom were here and Sharon said she almost blew it when I said that.  It was great weekend, she left yesterday evening.  We shopped and shopped and shopped.  I went to work Monday to take a little break and then we were back at it yesterday with some last minute shopping and tidying up.

What a great surprise, it's awesome because she'll be back with my dad on the 16th and I was worried that we wouldn't have any time to do fun stuff if Cooper is here.  So now we have everything we need and more and we can all just relax and spend time with Cooper when they're here.

Surprise

Sharon planned a surprise for me tomorrow.  Weeks ago she asked me to take vacation for Thursday and Friday of this week (June 28-29th).  She hasn't told me what we are doing only that it is a surprise and that I will be excited.  I can't wait!  Now that it's the day before my curiosity has peaked but she's holding her ground and has not revealed the secret.

Awesome Spa!

I received a gift card to have "Babe Beaute" treatment at this spa on SE 78th and Stark this weekend.  I highly recommend this spa, the owner, Tarah is awesome.  Babe Beaute consisted of fruit, crackers, yogurt, pregnancy tea and water.  I had a cold compress on my legs, my feet soaked in an herbal infusion of yumminess.  I had a foot massage and this great lavendar oil for my legs and feet and finished off with a pedicure with non-toxic nail polish.  I truly enjoyed this experience and highly recommend the spa to anyone pregnant or not.  They do massage, acupuncture, pedicures, foot treatments and facials, waxing, naturopathy.  It is amazing.  I can't wait to go back!

Riley Summit

Riley is preparing Sharon and I for Cooper's arrival.  She is a spunky puppy that is up and ready to go every morning between the hours of 4:30-6:30 a.m.  Today she let us sleep until 7 a.m., she must have had a tiring day yesterday.  She is very cute in the morning, she will walk on Sharon to wake her up.  She knows better than to attempt that with me, so instead she licks my fingers that are hanging off the bed.  The difference will be that we won't be able to say, "Cooper, lay down" when we want to keep sleeping!

On a similar sleeping note...I am about 37 weeks now and the tossing and turning during the night has reared it's head once again.  I have been able to sleep pretty well the past month with my pillow arrangement.  That's over.  I have the same pillow arrangement but the problem that I'm having is my hips are aching tremendously throughout the night.  It's the weight of Cooper that is bearing down on my hips and making it uncomfortable.  I switch sides all night from my right to my left in hopes of getting more sleep.  But by the time I'm awake, I'm in pain and it takes awhile to fall back to sleep.  I guess this is what is also preparing me for meeting this little guy.  The farther along you go in your pregnancy the more you want the baby out, it's all for preparation!!!

Cravings

I'm 35.5 weeks pregnant and still getting those cravings for different things.  I haven't been craving burgers like I was earlier (they are now giving me massive heartburn), basically most food food is giving me heartburn.

No, my cravings now are for very unnutricious items such as fruit snacks and ice cream.  I went to Fred Meyer last night as a matter of fact and bought Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches and Breyers low fat ice cream bars, the chocolate coating with vanilla -YUM.  I really was craving the Heathy Choice fudge bars, thank you Janet, but they didn't have any.  While I was there I bought two boxes of fruit snacks and some fruit leather and some blueberries.  I've been wanting fresh fruit like crazy and haven't made it to the store yet to get some, hence the blueberries.
